I am trying to determine if it is possible to call the [System.Data.Entity.Core.Common.DbGet] methods from within a SQL Server triggers.
I have several tables where I need to perform some mass updates of some sort based on the values within a single primary key. This primary key is assigned at the time of creation of the row, so I cannot use the GETDATE() function. Therefore I need to instead use the primary key value itself.
I am looking for a function that will provide me with the value of the key from the current row as well as a way to build up the value as a string so that I can pass it to my other DML queries.
I had this function working within a trigger before I switched to using the entity framework (i.e. I am using the Code First approach) and I was looking for a way to reuse this function so that I do not have to go back and refactor all of my triggers.
I have tried the following:
